ANDREW TRAN

Computer Science Undergraduate at UNSW

BACKGROUND

I am a 20 year old penultimate student studying computer science at the University of New South Wales. I am currently looking for a fulltime internship, in order to learn more about the software engineering industry.

I am an avid programmer who enjoys exploring the unique domains within the software engineering field: dabbling in indie game development with various programming platforms and recently learning about front-end programming in my spare time.

Fishing is one of my recreational hobbies which I do whenever I have time.

Fun fact: my biggest catch was my first ever catch - a dusky flathead

PROJECTS

Mobile Application
  • My first major project was a mobile game called "nart.io" created through Unity, a cross-platform game engine.
  • This was a self initiated project, worked on in conjunction with a team of artists over a month timeframe.
  • The game scripts were coded in C# using Unity's various libraries, applying relevant design strategies and patterns.
  • The app was tested, reviewed and deployed through the Google Play Console.
Heatmap Infographic
  • My next project was a web application tool, where I was given the task of form generation and visualisation of data sourced from a Insurance database.
  • The user is prompted to select a Insurance Heatmap through a form, and then varying form filters taken from the database are generated.
  • Based off the user inputs, details and prices associated with user inputs are displayed through a table or graph
  • HTML, JavaScript and JQuery were used as the front-end language, and PHP + SQL was used as backend.
